Where is Ursula Franklin Academy located?

What is the Application Process for UFA?

An application may be obtained from the downloads section. The completed Application Package must include:

  • The Application for Optional Attendance at a Secondary School Outside the Resident Area. This form must be signed by a parent/guardian, as well as the student's current home school principal.
  • The completed Reference Form
  • The Statement of Purpose (completed at Ursula Franklin Academy)
  • The Final Grade 7 Report Card, as well as the Most Recent Grade 8 Report Card. Note: for senior students, we will require the latest report card, as well as the previous year's final report card.

Please make an appointment with Heather Woodtke at 416-393-0430 to write the Statement of Purpose. The writing of the Statement of Purpose will take place at UFA on one of the following dates:
Tuesday, December 8, 2009, 4:00pm
Wednesday, December 9, 3:30pm
Thursday, January 7, 2010, 4:00pm
Saturday, January 9, 2010, 10:00am

Packages can be returned to UFA via mail, fax (416-393-0970), or in person to the main office. Completed Application Pacakages must be submitted to UFA by Monday, February 1, 2010.

Successful applicants will be informed no later than Friday, February 12, 2010.

I don't know anyone coming in to UFA. Will this be a problem?

This will not be a problem at all! UFA is not anyone's home school, so you won't be the only one that doesn't know people. At the beginning of the year, you will have the opportunity to participate on the grade 9 retreat, organized by the PALS. Also, UFAs Enriched Wednesday Sessions are open to all grades, and this allows for lots of friendships to be made based on interests, not just grade!

Is the uniform costly?

The uniform at UFA can be bought either directly from UFA, or McCarthy's. If you purchase the uniform directly from UFA, you will be supporting some great programs at UFA such as Enriched Wednesday Sessions. There are also used uniform sales where you can pick up gently used pieces for a significantly reduced price. To learn more about the uniform, see Uniform Policy
